BQ27530G1 Full Charge not set when charge terminated

Dear Sirs,

I have BQ27530 configured and learning cycle is repeatedly succesfully achieved. But in normal user environment FC bit is not set properly. Charging is terminated according to configuration so primary termination conditions are met byt FC is not set and CHR bit not cleared.

    Well screeshots disaperad after post commit. Anyway config is following:

    Charging Voltage 4200mV

    Taper Current: 100mA

    Min Taper Capacity: 50mA

    Taper Voltage:150mV

    Current taper window 40s

    FC Clear 90%

    FC Clear Volt: 0V

    DODatEOC Delta T:5degC

    I have also graph where is clearly shown how charging is terminated when current drops below 100mA. Why is FC not set?

    Hi  Jiri, 

    I aplogize for the delay in someone responding to this. This must have somehow slipped through the cracks.

    Can you look at your log file to see if you are meeting the min taper capacity criteria. pls see snippet below that i got from the trm of a similar device.

    I would suggest since your taper current is 100mA, you set your charger to terminate charging at 75mA, and reduce your min taper capacity to 25mA.

    Perfect, thank you for answer. I think I understand it now. I read this in manual but make sense to me now thanks to your hint.

    Maybe I found source of problems, in bq27530 technical reference manual is written in same column as you quoted following:

    During the same periods: Accumulated change in capacity < Min Taper Capacity per Current Taper
    Window

    which have oposite meaning than yours text.

    SOLVED.

    Your quotation was wrong, right is following:

    During the same periods: Accumulated change in capacity < Min Taper Capacity per Current Taper
    Window

    Beside this very helpful was graphing function of new Battery Management Studio. I observed that new battery cell required following settings:

    Taper Current: 130mA

    Min Taper Capacity: 25mA


    Window 40s

    now termination is properly ended with FC flag set.

    Thank you for hint. Please correct manuals with correct  < > signs to avoid future confuse.
