Hi Team,

I was aked when FCC is updated with bq27520-G4 by my customer.
Is the following application note page 5 "2.6 Update of DataRAM.Remaining Capacity (RM) and DataRAM.Full Charge Capacity (FCC)" applicable for bq27520-G4?

  • The gauge calculates unfiltered FCC at the following events:

    * after a full reset
    * charging:
    - start of charging
    - charge termination (cell full)
    * discharging:
    - start of discharge
    - DOD crosses grid point
    - fast Qmax at end of discharge
    * change in temperature > DODatEOCTempDelta
    * state of health update
    * relax:
    - when OCV measurement is taken
    - Qmax updates

    If smoothing is enabled, filtered FCC will update:
    * after a full reset
    * charging:
    - continuously
    * relax:
    - if RCJumpOk = 1 and change in temperature > DODatEOCTempDelta
  • Hi Dominik-san,

    Thank you for your kind support.
    I understood FCC update events are different between SMTHEN=1 and SMTHEN=0.

    1)
    Is there any application note that explain the difference in detail?

    2)
    My customer found FullChargeCapacity( ) is suddenly changed to the value of RemainingCapacity( ) at charge termination under SMTHEN=1(smoothing is enabled).
    Is it normal operation for bq27520-G4?

  • 1. The TRM described the smoothing fuctionality. That's all we have.

    2. Yes this is normal. Pls see the charge termination section of the TRM

    thanks
