BQ34Z100-G1: Charging and Charge Termination Indication

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi. I have noticed that FC flag is set when the battery is not really fully charged.

I want my battery to stop charging when its voltage is 16,8V and current has dropped to 1A. So the parameters of the gauge are : taper voltage - 250mV, taper current - 1A, taper capacity - 5 mAmphr

What I noticed is that the Fc flag is set when voltage of battery is 16624mV, current is 1,6A and the capacity change in last 2 cycles(40sec x 2) is 9mAh. So I guess the Fc flag is not set by these taper parameters.

Questions:

1. Does taper termination occurs if all 3 A, B and C occurs or it needs only one of them to set Fc flag?  Picture below:

2. How can I know which of these 3 (taper, delta temperature, negative delta voltage) ways sets the Fc flag?

3. How can I disable the delta temperature and negative delta voltage so it does not set the FC flag?

Thanks in advance.

I checked a gg file that you sent earlier and FC Set% was set to 100. This will set the FC flag when SOC reaches 100%. You can set FC Set% = -1 and FC should set at charge termination. The taper current not be set higher than C/20 to allow the cells to fully charge. The deltaT and deltaV parameters only apply when using NiMH and NiCd ChemID's.

  • we are using 4S18P and 4S36P ncr18650b cells.
For 4S18P it gives around 1A termination current.
We do not manufacture these battery packs our selves.
Ok, thank you, I now understand about the deltaT and deltaV.
I will try to set FC Set%=-1 and see how it works. Thank you!
