Hello,

I would like to create a ChemID from a Lead battery (12V 38Ah) with the BQ34z100 EVM.

Here are some more details regarding the configuration :

- Design capacity : 3800 mAh (38Ah divided by 10 as adviced here http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua760)

- Design energy : 7980 mWh

- Design energy scale : 10

- Number of series cells : 6

- Cell charge voltage : 2275 V

- Voltage divider : 5000 mV

- Jumper config on the EVM : >5V on J5 and 16V on J2

I have plugged the EVM to BQStudio (version 1.3.54.1) and the the battery voltage on the right is at 3318 mV but the actual battery voltage is 12.75 V.

I tried to calibrate the BG but i got the message : Failed to enter calibration mode with command 0x2D

I tried the unseal and unseal_full_access button but it didn't change anything.

I have also tried to calibrate the BQ another config file I have found on a similar e2e post (2577.0100_0_16-bq34z100G1.bqz) but it still didn't work.

What should I do ?

Hi Mickael,

Please remove this version of bqStudio and update to the latest version. In the version of bqStudio you are currently using, there was a known 'bad' .bqz distributed for the bq34z100-G1 that gives this error during calibration. It has since been fixed with the newer versions of the Software.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your reply. I tried to install BQStudio 1.3.80 but I still have the same issue.

It's reading a 3.348V battery voltage instead of 12.75 V and when I try to calibrate the BQ, the message "Failed to enter calibration mode with command 0x2D still appear.

What else can I do ?

Hi Bryan,

I tried to reupload the firmware and then activate CAL_EN and VOLSEL and now it works.
The only thing is that my batterie is full, BQStudio can read 12.87 V, but it display on the left 0%.

What can affect the percentage of battery left ?

Little update :
After reuploading the firmware, the gg file and the chemID was erased by the new one.
With my gg file and gg file 800, it is impossible to do a calibration and my SoC is still a 0%.

After few test, I just reupload the original firmware and create a new configuration file form scratch instead of using the one that have been provided to me.
