BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34Z100-G1

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Dear All:

I use the BQ34Z100-G1 to read the current  register 0x10, but  no  matter how to read it ,the max current is 4096ma, XFFF,the X is 0  for charge  and  F for discharge , can you help me explain where i got it wrong?

  • Xiao,

Is this a custom board or the EVM?
    If EVM:
    - Where are your jumpers set on J5 and J2?
    - J5: Shorting Pins ___ and ___, and pins ___ and ___
    - J2: Shorting pins ___ and ___
    If Custom Board:
    - Voltage Divider Values on BAT:
    - High Resistor: __________ Ohm
    - Low Resistor: __________ Ohm
    - Current Sense Resistor: _________ mOhm

    Battery Cell Information:
    - Chemistry: NiMH
    - Max Voltage: ______ V
    - Nominal Voltage: ______ V
    - Capacity: _____ mAH

    Battery Stack/Application Information:
    - Configuration: __S__P
    - Max Load: ________ mA
    - Nominal Load : ________ mA
    - Normal Operating Temperature: _______ degC
    - Operational Temperature Range: ______ degC through _____ degC
    - External Thermistor on Pack: Y / N
    - Pack side or System side Gauge: Pack / System

    Best regards,
    David

  • Dear David
    any update? thanks
  • Hi Xiao,

What steps have your follow all device setup steps in section 8 of the datasheet?

Please make sure to calibrate current.

If current is calibrated, and you are not seeing the proper current value when using bqStudio, please ensure the command being sent is proper.

For more information on how to send the command, please refer to section 7.3.1.1 and section 7.3.1.12 of the Datasheet. For further information on sending i2c commands to the device, please refer to the i2c communication app note, found here: www.ti.com/.../slua790.pdf

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
