BQ24032A - Evaluation Board Schematic Question

Q: BQ24032A - Evaluation Board Schematic Question

I would like to understand why C7, a 0.22uF capacitor, is located on the schematic of the eval board for charging currents below 0.3A, but no reference of this is made anywhere else in the documentation. What is the purpose of this capacitor across Vbat and Rset?

A: Re: BQ24032A - Evaluation Board Schematic Question

C7 helps with stability at low charge current during the constant current phase.  The stabiliy is not a big concern at low loads even if the extra capacitance is not used since it is a small ripple and the battery continues to charge. The system is stable without the capacitor when the charger enters the voltage regulation mode so there is no chance of an overcharger, if the capacitor is not used.
