bq78PL114S12 FAQ: Aux File Processing Methods

Q: What is the difference between Generic and Actual Processing of my test data that will be used to create an Auxiliary Chemistry File (.aux)?

See Application note SLUA505B.  The choice of Actual / Generic is encountered when using the AUXGUI utility of the bqWizard software.  This is just one of a few parameters that must be entered along with your test data when creating an .aux file.

Actual Processing is used if ALL cells used in the test are an accurate representation of those used in production.  In this case, each cell performance is independently calculated and applied.

Generic Processing is used if not all cells used during the test are an accurate representation of the those used in production.  For instance, if cell one is weak and falls outside of cell mfg guaranteed performance standards.  In this case the average performance is applied to all cells.  Average means “throw out the best and worst performing cell and use the remaining to compute an average characterization .”
