USB-TO-GPIO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90SEQ48EVM-560, UCD9090

Hi!

I need to use this adapter with USB SAA GUI software but with the current firmware

the program says that the adapter is not found.

Please point me to correct firmware.bin for USB SAA GUI.exe.

With best regards,

Marek

    Moving to the correct forum.

  • You might need to provide some additional details with your post.

If the adapter can not be found then there is no way to update the FW.

The USB-to-GPIO adapter does not require its own driver and should be recognized as an HID device automtically by the host computer system.

    Some things to note:

The USB adapter works best when connected directly to the host computer system rather than through a USB Hub or Switch.

Does the green LED on the USB adapter light up when the USB is plugged into a port?

What WIN OS are you running?

  • I did update my adapter at one point to ver 1.0.11 when it was connected to the Fusion program successfully. (This was the same f/w version as in the UCD90SEQ48EVM-560 board). However, the intermittent is still occurred from time to time. As I mentioned in my previous post, after updating the Fusion software to Ver 1.9.63 the connection is better but only to one specific USB port. If I plug the adapter into a different USB port on my laptop, the Fusion program could not establish the connection any more.

My USB-to-GPIO adapter connected directly to USB ports of an HP EliteBook 8570w that runs Windows 7 OS. The green LED on the USB adapter is always on when it was plugged into any USB port.

Surely the problem is between the driver and the Fusion software. Although the USB circuit on the UCD9090 developing board is exactly the same as the adapter but there was no problem with the UCD9090 developing board at all, only the adapter. Thus it could be the circuit lay-out on the adapter that causes the Fusion software confused.

  • This response says much about the issue.

The interface hardware inside the USB-to-GPIO should be identical to the hardware on the UCD9090 EVM.

If one works, UCD9090, and one doesn't, USB-to-GPIO then likely there is a problem with the USB-to-GPIO that you have.  It could be the USB interface box itself or it could be the cabling, USB or ribbon, that connect it between the computer and the board.  Since the green LED is always lit when connected then more than likely it would be the interface hardware or the ribbon cable.  My money is on the ribbon cable, I'd check its continuity.

  • Your derived conclusion may be correct but in fact I used only one USB cable so far, the same cable to plug into the adapter or the UCD9090 developing board. It's also the same cable that can only work with one USB port. Plugging into a different port of the same computer, the Fusion program could not see it. I have checked and realized that the USB adapter circuit and the one on the UCD9090 are exactly the same but cannot explain one works perfectly and the other one is not.

  • Hi!

USB to GPIO firmware loader can detect the adapter,

but the USB SAA GUI 1.10 says "Adapter not attached".

I want to use usb to GPIO utility to send some I2C commands to some sensors to test

    if they work or not.

    OS is windows 7

    Regards,
