UCD3028: Programming information for UCD3028 + Fusion Studio always crashes

Hi Folks,

We are looking for some information on the UCD3028. I note the datasheet on the product's documents page mentions several UCD30xx Programmer Manuals, but I cannot find these anywhere on the TI site - nor any other information about actually programming the device.

Also, I have downloaded Fusion Digital Power Studio in the hope that it would shed some light - but it always crashes after selecting a sample project to open in offline mode. It crashes with the fatal error message given below. We have tried installing the Studio on several different Microsoft Windows 10 PC's with no difference. Please advise how to avoid this crash, thank you.

EDIT: I have noticed that sometimes I can open Studio, but that it then instead crashes (with same error) when trying to open things like one of the dashboards.

    The 3028 has never had real general release. We don't have that much collateral for it, especially on the web. It's the second generation family. Our third generation family, the UCD3138 family, has a lot more support and collateral on the web, and will work with the latest Fusion GUI. We suggest you take a look at those devices instead.

    If you really want to use the 3028, you can use the Device GUI instead, it works. It's an option on the install for the Fusion GUI. And we can find an older version of the Fusion GUI if you need one that's compatible with the 3028.

    Hmm, thing is the UCD3138 family IC's are nearly 2 or 3 times the price depending on the IC :-\

    To begin with we would be more interested in the mentioned documentation than tools (GUI etc) to see the device is able to be programmed how we would like.

    The datasheet does mention these documents so I imagine they must be in existence somewhere?

    W.R.T. the GUI, I though I had downloaded the latest version, 3.0.8 [Rev B] as listed on both product pages, is this not correct?

    Can you please contact your local TI sales repetitive for further support on this topic. we must have special NDAs to share any content related to these solutions.

    Also, it would be great if you can discuss with the local representative to select the right device for your solution. we have multiple devices in TI's portfolio from analog to digital controller for selection. Local contact would help you select from the bigger TI portfolio.

    Ian, are you able to recommend a local TI representative to contact?

    Our previous contact is no longer available and others report that TI have asked them to cease providing support, that TI will handle such.

    We are unsure if we would like to use the 3028 device - precisely because we have so little information on it! We do know, though, that the 3138 is too comprehensive (and expensive) a device for our current project at this time.
