UCD9248: how to program UCD9248 before placing in my design ?

Part Number: UCD9248
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD74120, UCD7242, UCD7232

hi,

i am new to power section design .

1. does any EVM boards available for programming UCD9248?

2. whether  TIs USB Interface Adapter EVM can be used ?if possible please share details .

  • Hi Devith,

There is no socket EVM for UCD9248 off-board programming. But you have three options:

    1. Vendors such as System General, BP Micro, Elenc, and so on provide programmer products.

    2. Distributors such as Arrow and Avnet provide programming service.

    3. You can have a PMBus connector on the application board, and use TI's USB Interface Adapter EVM for programming. You will likely need this connector on your board anyway, for debugging, loop tuning, monitoring, and so on.

  • hi Zhiyuan

    thanks a lot.

i have some other doubts also. UCD9248 has 4 voltage rails and 8 phases ,right ?

    1. what's actually the difference between this?

2.in the fusion gui i am only able to see the 4 voltage rail which i programed.but i given 8 phases . but its not displayed anywhere.where it will be shown?

3.why current sense amplifier are not inside ucd9248?

    regards

    DEVITH

  • Hi Devith,

Go to Fusion Digital Power Designer -> Configure -> Phase/Rail Config, you can assign up to 8 phases to up to 4 rails.

UCD9248 is designed to work with smart power stage/driver such as UCD7242, UCD74120, UCD7232, etc., which have integrated current sense function.
