UCD3138: Hall Effect Sensor

Part Number: UCD3138

Dear all,

I need to use a bi-directional hall effect sensor for current measurement in my application. The output of the current measurement block will be input for EADC which has 1.6V maximum range. All the products that I found has a Vdd/2 (Vdd is mostly found as 5V) offset voltage and therefore, I am not able to use this offset voltage in EADC. Is there any hall effect sensor which has a variable offset, that you may suggest for UCD3138.

Thanks in advanced

Merih

  • I know that we use one of the Allegro ACS716 series, which I notice has just been not recommended for new designs.  But that is what we use.  It has additional features that are helpful for use in power supplies, and it runs at 3.3 volts.

We use an op amp, but we use it so that we can have two different gains.  We have a lower gain signal for high current, and up the relative gain by 2X to improve our THD at low current.

We use a voltage divider to step the output voltage down to fit within the 1.6 volt range of the EADC.
