UCD3138A: What's the difference between software reset and power off/on reset?

Part Number: UCD3138A

Dear TI guys:

I am confused about software reset. What's the difference between software reset and power off/on reset?

Does UCD3138A run in ROM after software reset occured?

Is there any other reset way except above two?

  • Dana,

Software reset is initiated by the CPU . It resets all the digital logic . Yes , the ROM does run after a software reset.

Power off/on reset is a reset by reducing the Vcc to a voltage lower than the acceptable range thereby shutting down all the parts of the IC and then turning it back on by bringing back the voltage to an acceptable Vcc value.

There is another reset done by the reset pin on the IC.

    Thanks,

    Sanatan

  • Sanatan,

Thanks for your replying. Could you list all the digital logic that will be reset by CPU after Software reset is initiated?
Thank you very much for your help~
