Not proper highside drive for the SM72295 bridge driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SM72295, SM72442

I am using the SM72442 and SM72295 in a 300W solar application based on the circuit in the evaluations board SM3320.

Refer to AN-2121 page 5:

When operates in buck mode the output sync. rectifier Q2 do not have the prober highside drive from the driver SM72295 as the small pulses at the lower frequency should generate.

Tests have shown that the function works ok if the gate resistors for Q4 and Q2 are decreased from 18R to 0R.

I have concluded that the driver cannot source the drive to the used FETs (Q4 and Q2) with a Ciss = 7nF.

I see the same problem on the TI-evaluation board!

I have tried to change the bootstrap capacitor on the SM72295 without any luck!

Please advise how this problem can be solved, as the 0R gate resistor gives massive EMI problems and I need the heavy-duty FET in order to handle the power!

Best regards,

Niels
