ISSUES WITH SOLAR KITS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE
We are having problems with the following kits.
HV_SOLAR_DC_AC
HV_SOLAR_DC_DC
We are trying to perform the default experiment in the manual shown in the photo below.
The experiment takes in a DC voltage, the DC-DC kit boosts this to 400 VDC regulated, which is given to the DC-AC kit to get an AC voltage out.
Inline image 1
Our issue is with connectivity to the control cards via both the GUI provided in the USB stick and CC Studio 6.1.2
Control cards are
HV_SOLAR_DC_DC ---->  CC2803X (with TMS320 F28035PNT chip)
HV_SOLAR_DC_AC ----> F28M35xx (with F28M35H52C1RFPT chip)
With the DC-DC kit, we can establish connection but sending a "START" command to the DC_DC shuts the connectivity down.
With the DC-AC, we are unable to connect to the board at all. COM settings and software configurations seem accurate and have been checked multiple times.
If we get around to solving this problem, we would love to know how we could download code to the control card's flash memory and cut off the need to have the board cards connected to the PC every time we need to utilize this setup with the same config.
Help from one who has performed these experiments would be appreciated.

  • Please use the user guide for each board separately (before trying to operate them together) and go step by step from Software Build 1 through 3 to understand the software and operation of each board.

    Since you are having problem connecting to the board with CCS you have to go through the steps described in the user-guide (see UG_HV_SOLAR_DC_DC_Rev1.pdf, pages 13~14). Pls change the jumper setting (as mentioned in the UG) to allow code execution from RAM. You may need to see the control card documentation available in ControlSUITE. UG_SOLAR_Micro_Inverter.pdfCheck the Target Configuration before trying to connecting to the target. This is standard procedure for all of our kits. Attached is an example where this is detailed on Page 23 (Software setup). Although this doc is for another design, but this step related to Target Configuration also applies to these solar boards. If you still cannot connect to the board after following these steps then I would say you have some h/w issue. You will need to return the board and get a new one.

  • Shamin,

    Thanks for your prompt response. We only tried operating both boards together after trying to operate them individually as you suggested but without success.

    Jumper configurations seem intact.

    With the HV_SOLAR_DC_DC, we are able to establish connection to the control card and operate both with the GUI and CCS. The main problem is that applying 200VDC to the main power circuit immediately triggers a disruption in connection, causing the running program to stop.

    With the HV_SOLAR_DC_AC, target configuration et al seem fine. But we cannot debug/download the code to the control card. It returns errors. I will perform the experiment again sometime this week and attach screenshots that may help.

    Best,

    Michael.
  • Shamin,

    We require assistance with our HV_SOLAR_DC_AC board. Out of the box, the GUI program will not communicate with the controller.

    We expect a certain level of customer support for this product we have purchased. Please advise.
