ATL431: The reference on the ATL431 is relative to the anode. Does TI or anyone else make a similar part with the reference relative to the cathode?

Part Number: ATL431
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4041-N

This shunt regulator is great for making a pull-down current source with an N-MOSFET.

Does TI or anyone else have a complementary part to make a pull-up current source with a P-MOSFET?

In other words, the reference on the ATL431 is relative to the anode, but what I need is a similar part with the reference relative to the cathode?

Does TI or anyone else make one, and If not, is there a simple circuit that would make an ultra low current ATL431-like compliment?

  • Hi John,

Do you mean to use the ATL431 as a constant current sink, like the circuit below?

In that case the LM4041-N is a shunt regulator that has a voltage reference relative to the cathode. The pull-up current source circuit should be similar to this:

    Hope this helped,
