Robust power managment

Dear,

I have +28V on the input side of a truck. On the output side I have a +3.3V MCU with 150mA power consumption. I have about 1,000,000,000 power on off cycles. Can anyone give me an idea for a robust circuit that can do this like LDO DC / DC Converter.
Many Thanks

  • Hi Carlos,

You have the right general idea already. In order to conserve power, you will likely want to use a dc/dc to step down the voltage. In order to provide a "clean" power rail for the MCU, you could follow the dc/dc with an LDO so that the PSRR reduces any ripple on the power rail for the MCU.

We have several resources to help narrow down our portfolio to select the best devices for your application; however, all of the tools require more knowledge on your application. For example we have a parametric search to help you select the best LDO for your application once you select your mid rail (ti.com/ldo).

We also have many reference designs that can be used to get ideas for how to solve your application needs (www.ti.com/.../refdesignsearchresults.tsp

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
