TPS25910: FLT pin recommended operating voltage

Part Number: TPS25910

Hi team,

My customer is asking TPS25910 FLT pin recommended voltage, in datasheet, ABS maximum is 20V, and our recommended operating voltage is also up to 20V.

Is it really ok if use 20V pulled up voltage in FLT pin?

Thanks.

  • Hi User,

    Thanks for reaching out!
What is the application use case for your customer? and the end equipment?

20V on FLT/ pin is fine as along as the sink current through FLT/ pin is limited to 1mA (recommended value) through the external pull-up resistor. Recommended external pull-up resistor at FLT/ pin is > 20V/1mA i.e., >20kOhm.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Rakesh,

Thanks for reply, I'm reviewing customer's schematic, the equipment is TypeC port which input is 20V, and the FLT pin is pulled up with 20k ohm.
For input voltage tolerance is 20V with +/-5%, which maximum is 21V, I would like to know what's the ABS of FLT pin, lower than 20V and sink current lower than 1mA?
    Thank you.
  • Hi User,

    Thanks for the information.
The ABS.max of FLT pin is 20V and sink current is 1mA. To improve margin, it would be good to use higher pull-up resistor such as 100kOhm. Does this answered your question?

    Best Regards,
    Rakesh
  • Hi Rakesh,

Thank you, the datasheet spec is very confused me that why ABS and recommend are the same (20V).

Vin = 19V~21V, please recommend the FLT pin connection (ex: resistors divider value?), thank you.

  • Hi User,

Is the FLT/ output being used? by indication or fed to micro controller?
Indication: Use an LED in series with 20kOhm. It is good enough
To fed to micro controller: Use resistor divider 20k and 3.6k at FLT/ pin.

    Best Regards,
    Rakesh
