Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5160
Hello team,
My customer is using the LM5160A and is running into a few issues. The goal is to have a variable power supply that takes +55VDC and very the output from 0 to +48VDC.
A Continuous OFF Time (COT) regulator is chosen which works well in a variable output applications. COT regulators have no compensation network that is affected by changes in output voltage and switching frequency.
The “A” version of the IC is used so that the VCC pin on the IC can be powered by an external linear regulator (9V-13V). This is done to reduce excessive power dissipation for high values of Vin. The DC input to the VIN pin is 55VDC (fixed) and is too high to use the IC’s internal linear regulator.
I have more details from the customer application that I can PM.
Thank you for your support!
