LMG5200: Availability

Part Number: LMG5200

Hi,

The LMG5200 doesn't seem to be available for sampling or in prototype quantities, either on the TI website or from distributors. Can anyone tell me when it will be ?

Thanks,

Geoff

  • Geoff,

Thank you for your interest in LMG5200. Prototype LMG5200 parts are available for sale on the TI store. The part number for the prototype is PLMG5200MOFT.

  • Hi Don,

Sorry for not replying to Daniel's post but Christmas and New Year got in the way !

There was one other question I wanted to ask. Why are these devices so expensive compared to mosfet bridge solution ?

    Thanks,

    Geoff

  • Hi, Geoff,

I apologize for the delay, I've been traveling a bit lately.

GaN solutions from TI provide a unique integration of high performance GaN technology along with optimized drive and protection in a single package. The GaN technology enables designing solutions that are superior to MOSFET in terms of switching frequency, switching and conduction losses, and with no reverse recovery, making them ideal for application where MOSFETs can't be used due to their higher losses. Of course, as with any new technology, we expect price to move decrease over time as we optimize our processes.

Let us know if you have any other questions! I promise we'll be faster to respond in the future.
