Hello,

Can you clarify that the two HS pins on the DSBGA device (namely pins C1 and D4) are internally connected on the die please?

It makes PCB routing a little easier to directly connect the C1 pin to the GaN FET gate return pin and only connect the D4 pin to the bootstrap capacitor (i.e. no need to physically wire C1 to D4 on the board).

Hi Eamon,

Yes, there is a direct connection on the die between the two HS pins, and it is acceptable to layout the board as you describe. However, please do keep the stray capacitance from the cap-connected HS pin on the board to any ground-referenced circuits to a minimum. Any parasitic capacitance on this pin has to be charged and discharged through the on-die connection and could cause problems if it is over a couple pF or so.

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our devices.

Take a look at Figure 24. DSBGA Without Gate Resistors in the data sheet. It shows a snippet of a PCB layout doing exactly what you say.

By the way, we have an improved version of the LM5113. I encourage you to use it in place of the LM5113. The great thing is the LMG1205 is pin-to-pin compatible with the LM5113.
