LM5021 max input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5021

Hi,

My customer is using LM5021 as 24v to 5v flyback. Now customer need to use an 30.69v Zener diode at Vin pin, which clamp voltage is a little more than spec-30v. Is it Ok for this applicatioin ? I see Vin pin has a 36v Zenzer diode inside.

Appreciate for your help !

Regards

William

  • Hi William,
1.The absolute maximum ratings should be the first one you consider.
2.Don't rely on the "internal Zenor diode" for voltage clamp. It is for ESD protection, its minimum value is 30V in electrical table.
3.if the VIN could exceed 30V in operation, Then you must take actions to make it below 30V. If it is always below 30V in operation, you don't need add external clamp.

    Hope this can help you.
