How to realize ZVS when using UCC28063 ?

Accoding to the datasheet: when the rectified input voltage is less than half of the output voltage, all the energy stored in the MOSFET junction capacitor can be recovered and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) can be realized.

But I don't know why it can realize, can you tell me the principle? Or give me a file to learn? Thanks!

  • The boost inductor resonant with the parasitic capacitor of the MOSFET and diode. When diode turns off, the initial condition is the MOSFET cap voltage equal to the output voltage, diode cap voltage is zero, and inductor current is zero. Your inductor resonant with these two capacitors with the input and output voltage. You can see the capacitor resonant amplitude is the output voltage minus the instantaneous input voltage. The DC voltage of the resonant voltage is the input voltage instantaneous value. If the resonant amplitude is higher than the DC voltage, you achieve ZVS.
