LINE FILTER WITH UCC28700

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28700-Q1, UCC28700

Hi, I'm using TI part UCC28700-q1 as my SMPS design.

I just want to know that can i use Line filter with this design ?

I need 5V 1A and 5V 500mA both supplies.

By reducing current at output is there any effect on efficiency ?

By using input line filter what is the effect on working of this IC ?

Does it best solution for industrial application of SMPS?

  • I just want to know that can i use Line filter with this design ? - Yes, this is standard for off line flyback applications.

    I need 5V 1A and 5V 500mA both supplies.

By reducing current at output is there any effect on efficiency ? - The maximum efficiency of the converter tends to be between about 50% and 100% load. Running at low load the convereter will typically have lower efficiency. Because of fixed losses, low output power supplies tend to be a little less efficienct but if you design both for similar conditions the performane shouldn't be that different.

By using input line filter what is the effect on working of this IC ? - No real impact.

Does it best solution for industrial application of SMPS? This depends on the key concerns for your design, but the UCC28700 is a good choice for 2.5W - 5W power supplies.
