LM5106 operating voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5106

The LM5106 has an absolute maximum VDD rating of 18V, but the recommended range is 8V to 14V. Is it safe to operate this part from a 15V supply (which could go as high as 15.75V), with a maximum voltage on HS of 40V?

It is interesting to note that a similar Intersil gate driver, ISL89401, has similar voltage recommendations, but its datasheet includes a graph showing the need to reduce the allowable voltage on HS as a function of VDD, when VDD exceeds the recommended 14V maximum.

Thanks,
John

  • Hi John,LM5106's maximum HS is not dependent on VDD. Only 40V HS is acceptable.
however for 15V VDD, Please pay attention to the note which tell clearly.
Absolute Maximum Ratings indicate limits beyond which damage to the component may occur. Recommended Operating Conditions are
conditions under which operation of the device is ensured. Operating Ratings do not imply ensured performance limits. For ensured
performance limits and associated test conditions, see the Electrical Characteristics.
