UCC28740: Couldn't get 3A output current

Part Number: UCC28740
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP20533

Hi Team,

Currently I had suggested customer to use this calculator sheet file for their SMPS design by using UCC28740 and R&D engineer made the selection of transformers from the selection sheet base on output is 15V@3A and they could only achieve output current at 100 mA max.

Can you check as they actually refers the reference design but the reference design.

Please refer to PMP20533 links below:

  • Hello Johnson,

The reference design looks like it matches there power level exactly.  Do you know if they used the Renco transformer RLTI-1178

The excel design tool for the UCC28740 should have given them the correct calculations for the transformer and feedback components. http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc487

What are the customers input power requirements? Could you send a schematic and any waveforms they may have taken? If they used the design tool could you send it to us with their inputs?

    Regards,

    Mike
