LM5023: Input of 230 V AC, Output : 120VDC (Max), Current :50Amps

Part Number: LM5023
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28951-Q1, UCC28950, UCC3895,

Hi,

I was working on the simulations on the TI Webbench for a LiPo battery charger. I was not able to find any simulations for such a high current and voltage output.

I have this question, Can I change the circuitry such as the input filters, Mosfets, Transformers and output Switching filter and still retain the central controller to do my bidding for my specifications (Input of 230 V AC, Output : 120VDC Current:50Amps )or Is there any other IC which I could use instead of this one?

  • Hi Tony,

Thanks you for your interest in TI's products. The LM5023 is not a suitable device at these power levels. For this types of application the UCC28950 and UCC28951-Q1 devices are more suitable. Theses controllers implement a full bridge primary with gate drive signals for SR's as the output rectifiers. At 120V out you might be better using the UCC3895 which is very similar but does not have the SR gate drive signals and is lower cost. At 120V diode rectifiers may be as good a choice as SR's.

You should also check out the TI power stage library at www.ti.com/.../login.shtml, look under Full Bridge Power Stage.

    Regards

    Peter
