Hello,

I'm searching the following requirement device.
Are there any recommended device for this specification?
Also, if there are reference design for this specification, please let me know. I couldn't found isolated, AC input , 1.5kW power design.

<Specification>
Vin: AC100V
Input Power:1.5kW
Vout:DC250V
Efficiency:90%
PFC necessary, Isolated Power

  • Hello Ryuji

For the PFC stage you could look at a single phase CCM boost PFC controlled by a UCC28180. An alternative would be a two phase interleaved CCM boost PFC controlled by a UCC28070.

For the second stage  your best choices would be between a LLC half bridge controlled by a UCC25630-x or UCC25600 or a phase shifted full bridge controlled by a UCC28950.

  • Hello Colin san,

    Thank you for the reply.
Can we use UCC25630x or UCC25600 for 1.5kW power supply?
I couldn't simulate UCC256301 under the 1.5kW output condition in Webench.

  • Hello Ryuji

The Webench simulator won't use the UCC256301 in any design more than 1kW. This is a somewhat arbitrary limit but that's what is set in Webench. You could try simulating a 1kW design and see if it looks like it could be scaled to 1.5kW.

Alternatively, you can use the UCC256301 Excel calculator tool at www.ti.com/.../technicaldocuments to design the power train for this application.

At 1.5kW you may want to look at using a full bridge LLC - it's possible to use the UCC256301 or UCC25600 to do this. The choice between Full Bridge or Half Bridge involves the usual tradeoff of complexity versus transformer utilisation.
