UCC28950: ucc28950 transient

Part Number: UCC28950

please comment it for

UCC28950 for appliction 2.4KW(54V,44.5A), and transient response risk ?

please comment it if customer would try ucc28950 to 9.6kw charger (54v,178A) possible ?

thanks

  • Hi Philip

Using the UCC28950 to control a 9.6kW PSFB charger is certainly possible - the main challenge will be to design the power train to handle that amount of power efficiently. Another approach would be to build two or three smaller power stages each of which was controlled by a UCC28950. This device offers current mode control to make current sharing between multiple power stages simple. Multiple devices can be synchronised to a master device or to an external clock.

I don't understand what you mean by 'transient response risk' can you explain in a little more detail. Is it an output load transient, an input voltage transient or some other transient. In any case I would think that the risk is low with correct control loop design and good PCB layout.
