TPS65100-Q1: TPS65100-Q1 Start-up sequence

Part Number: TPS65100-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65140-Q1, TPS65150-Q1

Customer is reviewing TPS65100-Q1 on LCD panel for their connected audio project. Below is their start-up sequence requirement. Can TPS65100-Q1 support this timing requirement? And they do not need VCOM buffer, so they just need to connect VCOMIN to ground. Is this correct?

  • Hello Sam,

In general the startup sequence of TPS65100-Q1 is following the sequence your customer needs. The maximum times are as well not a problem, if the minimum times need to be fulfilled, TPS65100-Q1 itself will not be able to keep these. The voltages are starting directly after each other without any delay and therefore the part is starting faster than your customers minimum requirements. Please clarify if these minimum requirements are a must or if the timing could be shorter. You can find a startup picture in the datasheet.

If the customer does not need the VCOM buffer, he could use the TPS65140-Q1 which is the same component without the VCOM buffer, but with a power good output. Is your customer using the linear controller?

If the minimum timings are required, please have a look onto the TPS65150-Q1. This part has the same sequencing as your customer needs and the timing can be set by external capacitors.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
  • Thanks, Brigitte.
I need to discuss with customer about discrete LDO + TPS65150-Q1 solution.

  • Hello Sam,

Which solution was the one your customer preferred?

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
  • Hello Brigitte,
Customer requires both min and max delay timing for sequencing, so they prefer TPS65150-Q1.
