Hello,

This is Milav Soni From TEQ DILIGENT.

I have PMIC (part no :- TPS65185) IC, which is used in Display module.

I observe that whenever i supply the input to the PMIC, and give logic 1 to the PWRUP pin, PMIC take more than 400mA inrush current.

Why this is happen? How i reduced the inrush current?

please correct me if i m wrong.

The Part # for this question is TPS65185EVM, but your question itself does not mention the EVM.

Does this issue happen on your PCB with the TPS65185 IC on the board?
Or does this issue occur when you are evaluating the IC on the TPS65185EVM?

Hi Milav,

Figures 5 and 6 in the datasheet show typical inrush currents, where a lower input voltage results in higher currents. This current is primarily charging the output capacitors.

Reducing the load capacitance on individual regulators and increasing the input voltage would both reduce the initial inrush current. However reducing output capacitance may lead to increased voltage ripple.
