TPS65185: How to Inrust Current cumsuption too much low and can you suggest how to battery cunsuption low

Part Number: TPS65185

Hello,

I m working on Epaper Display Project. i m using PMIC TPS65185 for Epaper display power supply Management.this ic 900mA inrush current cumsumption so this problem to my Power battery life down.how to i inrush current cunsumption low and how to Battery life cycle increased. i share with you my schematic. can you please suggest how to power consuption low and how to may i increased life with in 1 year.

  • Hi,

I have assigned your request to responsible Applications Engineer and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Hi Dixant,

Inrush current is dependent on the supply voltage, where a lower input voltage requires a higher current from the battery. If this is too much for the battery's capacity, the current could be supplemented with additional capacitance on the input. For example, inrush figures 4 and 5 in the datasheet were taken with a 100uF cap on the input.

This power is required to charge the capacitance on the output rails of the regulators. Additional capacitance on these rails, such as decoupling capacitors near the screen will also increase the amount of current required to reach the regulation voltages.

This current is only needed for short bursts when the device is brought into active mode, whereas battery life could also be affected by quiescent losses from other constant connections to the battery. Increasing pull-up values, or reducing unnecessary pull-ups, could keep the battery from excessively discharging between screen updates.

    Best Regards,
    Rick S.
  • Thanks RICK S.

I have now PMIC on inrush current come 900mA. so can you please suggest which ic using so i will inrush current low?. I mounted on VIN pin 470uF and VIN_P pin 470uF so that's experiment inrush current comming. can you suggest please soft start ic ? can you check above attachment schematic!!
