TPS65150-Q1: Power-good threshold

Part Number: TPS65150-Q1

Hi Team,

My customer is using our TPS65150-q1 and it always shuts down.

We tried to disable the fault detection by connecting the FDLY pin to VI, it works.

Could you please kindly help with the following questions:

1. What's the power-good threshold of V(VS), V(VGH), V(VGL)?

2. In what condition would we trigger this fualt detection?

3. Is this a under voltage protection? If disabled, is there any potential issue?

Thanks,

Cera

  • Hello Cera,

I will look into this and get back to you by tomorrow.

  • Hello Cera,

Thank you for your patience. I looked through the datasheet and there is no direct specification for the power good threshold levels for the three supply outputs but there is a voltage regulation specification at the feedback pin for each output.

Vref Boost converter reference voltage (FB)

    Vref Feedback regulation voltage (FBN)

    Vref Feedback regulation voltage (FBP)

The TPS65150-Q1 device detects a fault condition and shuts down if the boost converter output or either of the
charge pump outputs fall out of regulation for longer than the fault delay time td(FDLY). Furthermore, the output fault detection function is active during start-up, so the device shuts down if any of its outputs fail to reach their set regulated output level during start-up.

I am thinking that your customer may have set the DLY1 and DLY2 delays such that negative and positive charge pumps take longer to come up than the fault delay (FDLY) time and that is probably why the device keeps shutting down since not all outputs have achieved regulation by the time FDLY time expires i.e. the FDLY time expires before all three outputs are fully up and hence the device shuts down.

I hope this explanation is helpful but please let me know if there are any questions.

    Kind Regards,
