TPS65150: TPS65150 Positive Charge Pump Issue

Part Number: TPS65150

I am just powering up a prototype design using your TPS65150 power supply component.

Due to the Pos Charge pump not working properly, the Fault shutdown is latching the '65150 in the disable mode.

The design is set to work at:

  • Vboost = 9.6V
  • VGL = -6V
  • VGH = 18V  (Note the attached schematic shows values for R1 & R2 which would give 19V)  This is a known mistake.  I have changed the values (R1 1.357M / R2 107K) to give a test VGH of 16.6V)

At present I have very light loads on the outputs of all regulators (< 10 mA).

The main boost sections appears to be working, as I see the regulated 9.6V until fault shutdown occurs.

Inspecting the DRVN pin (P18) on the Neg charge pump, It is evident that the circuit is working as expected as the circuit is regulating at -6V until the fault delay shuts down the component..

However, the Pos Charge pump shows no activity at the DRVP output unlike the Neg Charge Pump circuit.

From what I can tell, everything except the pos charge pump is working.  I see no DRVP signal at pin 17.

I'm puzzled as to the problem with the positive charge pump.  I would appreciate your input and suggestions.

Thanks

Jim
