Need Stable Current Source Design Suggestion

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC59213, LP55281, LP55231

Hi, I would like to create a current source circuit with the following:

- Able to drive ~20mA ± <50µA and ~140mA ± < 2mA current

- Prefer 8 channel or more

I came across the TLC59213 and see the current spec and channel count fit my need perfectly.

But I am not sure if this chip can help provide a stable current for LED driver application.

1. I saw the Link alt_slvs867b.gif Can this design help provide stable current if I try to choose a high precision Y1-Y8 in the diagram?

2. If this current source solution doesn't meet my accuracy, do you have any other suggestion IC which can help achieve this?

3. Can this chip also do Continuous Pulsing Current? If not, any suggestion chip you have?

Thanks for the help.

  • Hi, YUI,

It can provide stable current. And you can use D1 to D8 to achieve continuous pusing current.

Actually your accuracy is quite high. We don't have an LED driver can meet ~20mA ± <50µA and ~140mA ± < 2mA current.

But you can also take a look at LP55231 and LP55281, which are another two current source drivers.

    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Kenneth
