design query for TPS 92560

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92560

Hi

i am in search of a led driver for an led driver for

Vin : 24 Vac

Vout : 65v,

Iout : 350 ma.

as per the component selector excel sheet TPS92560 can support this in Boost CC mode but according to the datasheet Vout <42.

can someone pls suggest what is correct ?

  • HI Mohit,

The problem you are seeing is because the simple boost recommendation derives VP from the output of the boost:

This limits VOUT to <=42V as VPMAX=42V per  the datasheet.

By supply VP with another source (one possible and untested configuration) as shown below, you can  select D3 and Q1 to handle higher voltages.:

The really nice feature of this controller is we maintain a constant load current so maintain compatibility with any transformer. A side benefit of this is we never have an overshoot of current which means we always control the peak current draw from the transformer.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

  • HI John,

Thank you for your help. just wanted to clarify this before proceeding.

this D4 and D2 are already mentioned in the Component selector schematic. R11 is NC

There is one more foot note at the bottom of the excel sheet.

so i guess if i follow this component selector sheet i should have a working prototype for evaluation as per my need ?

  • HI Mohit,

Yes, as long as you take care to select proper components and have a proper layout, you should be good to go. D2 and D3 will get very hot so you really need to think about the thermal solution for your design. Also, please try to match the EVM layout as best you can. Note: You may want to add the option to short out the common mode choke on the front end.

    I hope this helps.

  • hi i will use TPS92560 in my design for input 12VAC output 35V ,1A. i got this massage too , i think i can put high current D2 D3 diode , is it can solve the proplem ??

    i got
