LP5521 I2C Connection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP5521

Dear all

I know this queston is abnormal. However customer would like to know when  two LP5521s are connected like below,

Q1:Can LP5521 monitor Ack signal from other device sending in slave mode or not?

Q2:If LP5521 can recognaize above Ack signal, what will be happend other LP5521?

Thank you for your cooperation

  • Hello,

The two LP5521 would not know about other chip with the same address. They both would receive data the same way and send ACK. It works, but is not recommended way to use the device. It conflicts with the I2C standard. Writing can be done that way, but if other device has some communication problem and is not sending ACK the master will not know about it. Reading does not work, since you would not know which device data you would get, or is it a some kind of "sum" of both devices data.

LP5521 has two ADDR pins for selecting address. Some customers have actively controlled the ADDR pins with processor GPOs  to get more than four LP5521 devices in the same I2C bus.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello, Tomi-san,

Thank you for your kindly support.

Customer knews device had the selection address. They had some problem so, they would like to try that method as backup with no modifying software.

    Thank you again.
