Boost driver dc-dc converter 12v in, 350MA out 20.6v out or 41.2V out with pwm dimming?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92690, LM3429, LM3421, LM3424, TPS92075

Hello,

I am looking for an led driver with the following specs but having a difficult time finding one for my application:

Boost driver dc-dc converter 12v in, 350MA out, 20.6v out or 41.2v out with pwm dimming?

Do you know of one that will work?

Thanks,

Stephen

  • Depending on the feature set you need look at the LM3421/23, LM3424, LM3429, or TPS92690. They can all fit those specs and are all in the same family, but they each have different features.
  • Thanks for the help.  What family of devices are you referring to?  I am new to power converters but am familiar with linear regulators, and switching regulators (buck, boost, sepic).

    Thanks.

  • By "family" I just mean they are all similar in voltage rating, capability, and that they are all low side NFET controllers. So they can all do boost very well, but they call also all do some form of buck-boost (floating, SEPIC, Cuk, flyback) depending on which one you use. But features do vary between them. I'm not sure what you need so I couldn't tell you exactly which to use. But just look for the features you need.

  • How about using the TPS92075 as a simple Boost converter? I want Vin=24V, Vout=36V. I would have the drop the voltage provided to the chip to 18V, but the external FET will handle the 36V. Looks like all I have to do is delete the PF function inputs, as shown in the spec sheet. I want to set the current output with the current sense resistor. Please advise. Thanks.
