LM3535 / the number of components.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3535, LP8501

Hi all.

You have LM3535 and LM3535-2ALS.
If we use LM3535 and 1ch~7ch not using the D1C/ALSA, can I treat the D1C/ALSA open?
And HWEN is Hardware Enable Pin.
Is this pin needed pull up resistor?

I think if we use this device ch1~ch7, we need SDA,SCL pull up resisters, 2 charge pump capacitors and input/output capacitors.
So the number components are 6 only.
Is this correct?

I would like to get this answer as soon as possible.

  • Hello,

For LM3535, you can leave D1C floating so long as it is not enabled via I2C.

HWEN must be pulled high for the device to operate.  You can either tied it to a rail directly or through a resistor if you want it always ready to communicate.  Or you can tie it to a control line if you want to put the device into shutdown.

As far as external components, you need 4 capacitors for the boost and then pull-ups on SDA and SCL assuming your driver is open drain.  Depending on how you want to control HWEN, you may or may not need one extra resistor.

  • Hello Greg san

    Thank you for the reply.

    I undesrstood about component.

This device is 8 output, and 3 groups.

A group(6ch) has 257 dimming setting current output, B group(3ch) has 8 linear dimming setting.
Mycustomer would like use 7ch and they need over 127 setting current output.

And charge pump system is good.

Please tell me another recommended LED driver.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello,

The next closest part that I can recommend would be the LP8501 which is a 9 channel device that should have the resolution your customer is looking for.
