Please tell me to realize or not the Spread Spectrum Solution.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92691-Q1

Hello.

My customer is currently in using TPS92691-Q1,now.

I have gotten a question about this product .

So, please teach me about TPS92691-Q1.

Consider applications: Patrol Car's Lamp Unit

<Question>

I want to achieve the Spread Spectrum in the ingenuity of the RT / SYNC pin of this device .

Is it possible to be realized ?

(Configuration example will be described below)

Could you help us?

Best Regards,

Pokkun

  • Yes, you can achieve spread spectrum that way provided it is a ramp wave as shown and not a sawtooth (a fast edge could trigger the sync function). You can also achieve the same thing without the capacitor if you connect the resistor to a ramp wave rather than ground provided the ramp wave trough is ground and the peak is < the 1V w.r.t. ground regulated voltage of RT.
  • Thank you very much for the answer !

( Sorry in the lack of understanding )
Can you tell me about the following points, again?

・Can the Fsw follow smoothly by the Ramp voltage (80Hz) ?
・Recognition Is that CLK synchronized 80Hz If you enter a sawtooth wave ?
(if the answer is "YES" there is a shift in the recognition of each other .)

    Best Regards,
    Pokkun
  • A ramp voltage will work and the switching frequency should vary along with it spreading the spectrum.

A sawtooth with a sharp edge would give you an extra switching cycle at each sharp edge.

Us a ramp, not a sawtooth for spreading the spectrum.

  • Thank you very much for answers.
    I was able to understand.

We will respond "Yes" to the customer after getting the EVM and confirming the actual operation.
