MODIFICATION OF TPS92210EVM-647

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92210, LM3447, TPS92075, TPS92410

Is it possible to modify the EVM-647 to drive fewer leds at 350mA, looking for a load of 3-6 watts.   Are there other fly back transformers already design for these different application voltages, that anyone is aware of.  The important feature of this design for our application is Triac dimming.

  • Hello,

Yes but to drive fewer LEDs the transformer will have to change as well as some component values (and maybe some secondary side circuitry).  If the output voltage drops the turn ratio needs to drop.  This is so the primary bias voltage will be high enough for the TPS92210 to run as well as optimizing the design.  The present design is for 19-32 volts.  Are you looking for this to handle a 2:1 or greater output voltage range?

I don't believe there are other transformers designed for this EVM.  There are other parts that may work better for triac dimming depend on what your are trying to do and if you desire isolation.  LM3447 for isolated, TPS92075 for buck converter, TPS92410/411 for direct drive

    Thanks,

  • Greetings,

Thank you for the quick reply and confirmation.  I was hopping there might be some other transformers available already, but it's not the end of the world.

    thanks again for your response.
