TLC5916: Setting Special Mode current level in chained devices

Part Number: TLC5916

I can't tell from the datasheet if Special Mode current level can be set in chained devices.

This line appears to indicate that the current level data for each device can be sent the same as in Normal Mode.

Then when LE is enabled (for all devices) the data is latched in their respective registers.

9.4.1.2 Special Mode Phase
In the Special Mode, as long as OE(ED2) is not low, the serial data is shifted to the Shift Register via SDI and
shifted out via SDO, as in the Normal Mode.

However, the timing diagram seems to show that it only works for the first device. (9.4.3 Writing Configuration Code in Special Mode)

It shows 8 pulses then LE going high. This might just be an example, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone indicate the correct operation?

Thanks.
