TPS92512HV: Disable TPS92512HV temperature shut off

Part Number: TPS92512HV

Hi team,

Posting this question for my customer as it may be beneficial to others that have a similar question.

Thanks for the help!

"We understand the TPS92512HV driver has a temperature shut off mechanism that works autonomously and independently from whatever we are doing with the control signals (PWM or Iadjust), they are asking me how to disable/defeat this behavior such that they can see how the device fails if that shut off mechanism was to malfunction.

I am at a loss on this one. Is this something you guys have dealt with in the past? How would you address such request?"

  • Hello,

That function is inherent to the IC and couldn't be disabled without a silicon change. I'm not sure if that is a common failure mechanism though. I have tested hundreds of ICs of various types and have never seen the thermal shutdown fail on any of them if that helps.

    Regards,

    Clint
