LM3914: LED Configuration

Part Number: LM3914
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1681

Hello,

We working on a project in which audio takes from USB and split audio in 8 channel to get output on 8 x XLR connectors. In the project PCM1681 takes 4 stereo input from DSP (Via I2S Communication).

Output of PCM1681 (8 x Vout) feed in to 8 x DRV135 to get output on XLR connector.

Also, need to show audio level coming out from PCM1681. For that we are using RGY 3-LED level indicator (Mfg. P/N: 5640200132F) and LM3914 Dot/Bard LED Driver.

Functions of LEDs for each XLR output is:

Volume Low -> Green; Volume Typical -> Yellow; Volume High -> Red

So, please review the circuit and confirm below:

  1. When the LED will be ON
    1. will it be solid or
    2. flickering can be seen
  2. We need to set three level of Volume. How can we set three level of Volume?
  3. According to following diagram, are the connection of LEDs OK? Please review the attached schematic
    1. Voltage rating of LEDs : 1.9V Green, 1.7V Red, 1.8V Yellow

Also, please let us know if there is any other way/ part available that we can display audio level as we have only 3-LEDs.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Aman Shah
