LP8862-Q1: Questions about current sensing

Part Number: LP8862-Q1

Hi Engineer

Q1)

The lp8862 has a Vsense pin.
Its use is related to OCP.
Is there a equation to calculate the OCP according to the resistance value?

Q2)

There is a Riset to set the output current.
Does this change as the value of Rsense changes?

Thanks,

Taemin

  • Hello Taemin,

A1) You can calculate typical input OCP current dependent on RISENSE resistor using the following formula: IOCP(typ) = 160mV/RISENSE(mΩ). Min and Max IOCP values can be calculated with +/-15% of typical value.

A2) No, RISET only sets the max current for LED outputs and is not affected by RISENSE value, but please note that IOCP value needs to be selected considering load condition and conversion ratio (Vout/Vin), providing enough headroom for expected apps condition.
