TPS92518: Can I use this component in a Low Side LED Driver

The Eval board is working great.  I would like to use this component as a low side LED driver.  Can this be done?

    Hello,

    I'm sure it can be done but it doesn't make sense since the current sense is high side.  There are other parts that can do this, TPS92691, TPS92692, TPS92640/641.

    Is there a reason for low side current sense, TPS92515 has a built in MOSFET but it is also high side.

    I need to make my design backwards compatible with an existing driver which is a low side drive.  Also need the SPI/ program-ability of the TPS92518 so I can set different current limits for various LED loads.

    Hello Rob,

    Unfortunately there aren't many SPI interface parts released yet. It may possible to design an external gate drive to shift the MOSFET to the bottom though the current sense resistor would remain at the top and the CS voltage will look the same if it's placed in the correct place with respect to the recirculating diode.  It will require a level shifted gate drive circuit/gate drive IC.
