LM3444: Using FILTER pin for dimming

Part Number: LM3444

Hi team,

I am working with LM3444 and interested in understanding how to use the FILTER pin for dimming. More specifically, I am interested in using this pin for dimming with a potentiometer. Are there any resources on how to use this pin in such a way? Do you have any thoughts/suggestions on the potentiometer approach?

Thanks,

Brian Angiel

  • Hello Brian,

It's rather simple. The range is 0-0.750V. You can use a potentiometer and resistor to get this range. Note that the dimming will not be quite linear because the LM3444 regulates peak current. Use a reference or even VCC to set the potentiometer range for 0 to 0.750V. If from VCC the resistor will be well above 10 times the value of the potentiometer. You can use a reference too.

    Regards,
