    This is a forum for support with Texas Instruments devices.  I am not sure how your question relates to a TI device.  If your question is about a specific TI device, you need to let us know which device this is by putting the part number in the post.

    Matthew,

    LED based MR16 lamps typically operate from the following (12V supplies), for example:

    • DC voltage (12V)
    • Iron Core transformer (120Vac->12Vac), or
    • Electronic transformers (120V->12Vac)
    Electronic transformers (e-transformers) are commonly used because they are small and inexpensive.  There are several TI reference designs for LED MR16 lamp replacements based on our LM3444, LM3401, or LM3414 LED drivers.  The associated application notes typically document which transformers we used for testing/performance measurements.
    Regards,
    John
