The TPS61165 does not provide the PWM dimming you desire. The IC takes a PWM dimming signal and reduces the internal reference voltage to a value equal to 0.2V times the duty cycle of the PWM signal. The resulting LED current is reduced to ILED=VFB/RSET*D, where D is the duty cycle of the applied PWM...

There are several things that could be wrong, so this will require some debugging on your part. First, the TPS63001 requires at least 4.7uF of input capacitance. I would recommend adding a 22uF input cap and seeing if that helps. What is the current limit of your 2.7V input supply? Can you try...

I don't understand your question. The TPS61165 datasheet contains several paragraphs that describe the detailed operation of the CTRL pin and how it is used to dim the LEDs with several options.

Yes, you are correct that the CTRL pin is use for on/off control and for LED brightness control. LED brightness control can be accomplished by applying a PWM pulse to the CTRL pin or by using the CTRL pin to digitally control the LED brightness via the Easyscale protocal. The datasheet provides several...

Dear Michael, I consider this IC for my home appliance LED Lighting purpose. also I dont want to adjust the LED brightness. It is glowing its maximum brightness. So only I am confusing about this CTRL pin. after Implementing my circuit I will send you. thanks for your reply.

  • Forum Post: RE: problem with dc-dc driver using TPS61165

    Dave Neale Dave Neale
Hi Emil, the physical layout of the TPS61165 is critical. ALL connections between the chip itself, Input supply, the inductor, diode and output cap need to be short and heavy tracks otherwise noise can be induced on the feedback pin causing erratic sensing of the output current. Ask your TI rep for an...
