For overall dimming, I suggest using the Global Brightness function. This functionality is designed to dim the overall sign. You can not use the XBLNK pin for this function because XBLNK resets all grayscale counters when low.

Hi, I'm using a TPS61165 to drive high brightness LEDs, and I'm not sure from the datasheet how the PWM control works. I'm hoping to flash the LEDs at a low frequency (visible to the human eye, so less than 60 Hz), and vary the dimming at the same time to create an interesting display for...

  • Forum Post: Application for dimming white LEDs on multiple channels

    Todd Larson Todd Larson
I have an application for dimming white LEDs on multiple channels. I have tried using the TLC5940 with 16 channels with dot correction and grayscale PWM with some success. Generating the GS clock is messy at best. If a 25MHz internal oscillator was provided for the GS clock, this would be a nearly perfect...

    Pedro Ortiz Pedro Ortiz
Hi, we are using three TLC 5940 connected to one PIC18F4620 that generate the control signals. The problem appears when we activate the BLANK signal every 4096 pulses, the LED intensity result very poor. When we use BLANK signal every 256 pulses, the LED brightness increase well. However...

Hello TI Team, For a study I get some sample of the LM3429 . I made with Webench LED designer the components calculation for 3x Nichia NS6W083 with 0,3A current from 6V to 9V Input voltage. a nd soldered the chip on a test board . The circuit works well without PWM Signal ( I measured 303mA) but I...

Hi, I'm working on a project which requires a high brightness LED driver for a general purpose light which will go into trucks and vans. V IN range would be 8-32V DC, with 13.5 V being typical. It needs PWM dimming control. I would like to run the LEDs at 350mA. typical LED forward voltage would...

I would like to use the OE pin of the TLC5917 for PWM control at about 160Hz, but am unsure of the implications/interactions with the Mode Switching method. It will also be connected up for SPI changing of "Normal Mode" settings, but these setting changes would only occur when the PWM system...

Hello Lei Han , Thanks for the reply! The new design with the LM3421 is now finished, I get last week all the components, but I have to find a little bit of time to sold it and test it. Hello, On the LM3409 we are driving 4 series LEDs and are having difficulty getting the LEDs to dim far enough down using the IADJ pin (using the analog 0-1.24V control). At 0V, we still have about 13mA @ 10V flowing through the LEDs string and thus the LEDs are still lit. Looking more closely at the...
