Need a voltage regulator (500mA) with highest efficiency while operating at light load currents (100 micro amps)

Hi,

       We are looking for a voltage regulator that can convert battery supply (3.3-4.2V) to 1.0V.  The particular application that we are targeting requires <100uA for most of the time, but can go to high power mode for some time where the currents can be upto 500mA. Can you please suggest a part that is best suited for our application.

    Hi Ganesh,

    There are a several LDOs that may be suited for your application such as TPS74701 and TPS7A8101.  You can find more by using our parametric search ().  This search will also allow you to search for other features that may be interesting for your application.

    Thanks for your help.

    I found a device TPS65290 that has "10-mA, 100-nA IDDQ Deep Sleep Zero Leakage Current Bias Controller With PreSet Voltage" that can be used for the applications like what we are planning to use (Low Power Always-On Bias Supply for Microcontroller). However the min voltage to which this device can be operated is 1.3V. Do you have some other part that can go down to 0.9V or 1.0V.

    Hi Ganesh,

    The best option I can think of is the TPS7B67 for this socket as an LDO. You may also want to look into PMICs and Buck regulators, which both have their own respective forums.
